Colts vs. Chiefs Total Prediction
Despite moving the ball well in the first half last week in Houston, the Colts played a low-scoring Wild Card game last Saturday versus the Texans. Will things be different from a scoring standpoint this weekend when Indy travels to Arrowhead to play the Chiefs at 4:35 p.m. ET?
Game Snapshot
301 Indianapolis Colts at 302 Kansas City Chiefs
4:35 p.m. ET, Saturday, January 12, 2019
Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Chiefs are 5.5-point favorites to beat the Colts. The total, meanwhile, sits at 57 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets are on the Colts to cover the point spread.
Indianapolis Colts
T.Y. Hilton (ankle) remained sidelined at Wednesday’s practice. Hilton rarely practices these days, though there’s no concern whatsoever over his availability for Saturday’s Divisional Round game at Arrowhead. The 29-year-old will look to erase a seven-game touchdown drought when he takes the field against the top-seeded Chiefs.
Kansas City Chiefs
Eric Berry (heel) didn’t practice on Wednesday. It’s a downgrade for Berry, who was limited at Tuesday’s practice. Berry’s heel hasn’t been right all season. Even if the All-Pro safety suits up for Saturday’s Divisional Round game against Indy, he’ll be doing so at much less than 100 percent.
NFL Betting Trends
Indianapolis
The under is 9-2 in the Colts’ last 11 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
Kansas City
The over is 5-0 in the Chiefs’ last five games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
Prediction
This total is way too high, even with Kansas City’s firepower on offense. The under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between these two teams, is 49-22-1 in the Chiefs’ last 72 home games and is 6-2 in the Colts’ last eight games overall, including 9-4 in their last 13 road games. The forecast in Kansas City on Saturday calls for snow showers with a 60-percent chance of precipitation and highs of 35 degrees. While it won’t be the frozen tundra, the weather will be enough to quell scoring enough for under bettors to cash in, especially given how well the Colts have played defensively of late.
