Spread Holding in Raiders vs. Texans
The point spread in today's NFL Wildcard playoff matchup between the Raiders and Texans has held steady over the past few days.
The Texans opened as 3-point home favorites over the Raiders but according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the point spread for today's 4:35PM ET kickoff is now up to 3.5. As for the total, the number hit the board at 37.5 and has been bet down to 37 at the majority of online sports books.
Things are a little different in Las Vegas. Houston opened as low as a 2.5-point favorite at several sports books in Vegas and now that number I sup to 4 at the MGM Mirage and William Hill. At Westgate and Wynn LV, the spread remains at Texans -3.5 as of this writing. The over/under, meanwhile, is 36.5 at most Vegas sports books.
The over is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams while the road team has covered in four of the last five meetings between these two teams. The Raiders are 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 road games and 7-3 against the number in their last 10 games overall, while the Texans are 1-6 at the betting window in their last seven games overall and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Oakland has major injury concerns, starting at quarterback. With both Derek Carr and Matt McGloin banged up, Connor Cook will make his first NFL start. He'll also be without his blindside protector in Donald Penn, who is out with a knee injury. Menelik Watson will start in Penn's place.
