Lions vs. Seahawks Pick
Will Saturday night’s NFL Wildcard tilt between the Lions and Seahawks be a defensive struggle at 8:15PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Seahawks are 8-point home favorites versus the Lions while the over/under currently sits at 43 points. Seattle had opened as a 7.5-point favorite but the line has been bet up to 8.5 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

On Wednesday the Lions confirmed that coach Jim Caldwell will be back with the team in 2017. Caldwell has guided the Lions to a pair of Wildcard berths in two of his first three seasons, although the team blew a lead in the NFC North when a divisional crown was in reach. Caldwell has gone 27-21 through three seasons in Detroit, so keeping him in place makes sense.
The Seahawks signed kick-returner Devin Hester on Wednesday. The 34-year-old was cut by the Ravens in December after averaging 24.5 yards on kick returns and 7.2 yards on punts. With Tyler Lockett done for the season, Hester figures to take over the return duties in Seattle. He also might have some knowledge on the Falcons, the Seahawks’ second-round opponent if they beat the Lions this weekend, his former team.

OUR PREDICTION: The Lions can’t run the football and won’t be able to on Saturday night when they take on the Seahawks and their stout run defense. That means more passes for Matthew Stafford, perhaps more big plays, more completions, and more times the clock is stopped. That could lead to a higher-scoring game than what bettors are used to when the Seahawks are involved (especially with Earl Thomas out for the season with a broken leg). The over is 5-1 in the Seahawks’ last six playoff games, is 4-1 in their last five games overall, and has cashed in five of their last seven home games as well.
