Eagles vs. Bears Total Prediction

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Chicago Bears, 1/4/19 Predictions & Odds

The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles reached the playoffs this year, in part, thanks to the help of the Bears. Now the two teams will meet at 4:40 p.m. ET on Sunday in the first round of the NFL playoffs. Will the game be low-scoring?

Game Snapshot

107 Philadelphia Eagles at 108 Chicago Bears

4:40 p.m. ET, Sunday, January 6, 2019

Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois

Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Bears are 6.5-point favorites to beat the Eagles. The total, meanwhile, sits at 41.5 points. As of this writing, 54% of the public betting tickets are on the Eagles to cover the point spread.

Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed Nick Foles (ribs) will start this week against the Bears. Foles was forced to leave Week 17 in the fourth quarter after aggravating his rib injury, but tests revealed he is only dealing with a bruise. The good injury news means Foles will once again get a shot to lead the Eagles on a surprising playoff run.

Chicago Bears

Bears FS Eddie Jackson (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's Wild Card game against the Eagles. Jackson resumed practicing this week, getting in limited sessions on both Thursday and Friday. It looks like he'll be a game-time call for Sunday's postseason opener. The stud safety was just named to his first All-Pro team on Friday. If Jackson plays, it would be a downgrade for Zach Ertz.

NFL Betting Trends

Philadelphia

The over is 6-2 in the Eagles’ last eight playoff road games.

Chicago

The under is 4-0 in the Bears’ last four games overall.

Prediction

In their last five home games, the Bears allowed 17 (Packers), 6 (Rams), 20 (Vikings), 22 (Lions) and 10 (Jets) points to the opposition. They’re No. 1 in points allowed, No. 1 in rushing yards allowed, No. 7 in passing yards allowed and No. 3 in total yards allowed. This is the best defense in the playoff field and Matt Nagy won’t put Mitchell Tribusky in a bad spot by asking him to do more than he’s capable of. Expect a low-scoring affair between these two teams on Sunday afternoon.

NFL Wild Card Prediction: Eagles/Bears over 41.5
