TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Drew Weatherford will return as the starting quarterback for Florida State on Saturday against Duke in the wake of the Seminoles’ 37-29 loss to archrival Miami over the weekend.
Weatherford will get the nod over Xavier Lee, coach Bobby Bowden said on Monday. Lee replaced Weatherford on Sept. 29.
Lee was intercepted twice and had two fumbles in his third start of the season. One of the fumbles was recovered by Miami for a key late-game touchdown Saturday. He completed 14 of 32 passes for 208 yards.
Florida State (4-3, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) has lost 10 of its last 14 ACC games after losing its second straight Saturday.
The Seminoles hope Weatherford can get them back on track against Duke (1-6, 0-4) before a string of tough games, including three road contests against ranked teams: No. 2 Boston College, No. 8 Virginia Tech and No. 9 Florida.
