FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -Greg Hough’s 8-yard touchdown run in overtime gave Duquesne a 30-23 victory Saturday over Sacred Heart.
Aaron Strader then intercepted a pass on the 2-yard line to secure the win for the Dukes (1-2).
Sacred Heart?s Jon Wilson had tied the game at 23 apiece with 9:14 left in regulation when he returned a blocked punt 18-yards. He also recovered a fumble later in the quarter to stop a Duquesne drive.
But the Pioneers (2-2), who played the second half without quarterback David Fink, were unable to capitalize. Fink was had completed 5-of-8 passes for 54 yards, before injuring his ankle late in the second quarter with Sacred Heart leading 14-7.
Duquesne quarterback Kevin Rombach was 29-of-41 for 316 yards as the Dukes netted 457 yards of total offense. Hough had 107 yards rushing on 20 carries, and Bruck Hocker had eight catches for 96 yards.
Jason Payne ran for 113 yards and a touchdown for Sacred Heart and freshman quarterback Tyler McKeon had 91 yards passing in the second half with the one interception.
