DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -Kevin Hoyng passed for two touchdowns to J. Michael Jonard and ran for another and Dayton’s defense posted 11 sacks in a 40-0 victory over Central State on Saturday.
Hoyng completed 14-of-22 passes for 221 yards and touchdowns of 18 and 83 yards to Jonard, who had six catches for 146 yards for the Flyers (3-0). Hoyng was also Dayton’s leading rusher with 45 yards on eight carries, including an 11-yard scoring run.
Central State quarterback Chris Clark didn’t have it nearly as easy. He was sacked 11 times for 87 yards in losses.
The Marauders (1-2) rushed 47 times for minus-11 yards and totaled just 53 yards of offense.
Dayton also scored on Jack O’Dell’s 3-yard run, Frank Kohstall’s recovery of a blocked punt in the end zone and Corey Vossler’s 51-yard interception return. Vossler finished with 12 tackles, three sacks and four tackles for minus yardage.
Clark was 11-of-21 passing for 64 yards with the one interception.
