MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Billy Jack Murphy, the longtime Memphis football coach who also served as athletic director, died Thursday. He was 87.
The university said Murphy died in Memphis. The school did not list a cause of death.
Murphy was 91-44-1 as football coach between 1958 and 1971, and served as athletic director from 1966 until 1981.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday and funeral services are planned for Monday.
