The 9-foot figure unveiled before Saturday’s spring game was designed by student Jeremy Davis. It depicts Saban leaning forward in the process of clapping his hands with his mouth open as if he’s saying something to his players.
Saban says the honor “represents so many people that were a part of this team.”
Coaches who have led the Crimson Tide to a football national championship are represented in the Walk of Champions plaza, all in their game-day garb. Saban joins Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings.
Captains and other members of the 2009 championship team were on hand for the ceremony held before Alabama’s A-Day game.
