Missouri Season Odds
COLUMBIA, MO (TheSpread) – The surprising back-to-back SEC East champs, the Missouri Tigers are looking to take another step toward a championship this season.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Missouri has been given 100/1 odds to win the national title this upcoming season. The Tigers are currently listed with odds of +1600 to win the SEC Championship and their over/under total for wins has been set at 7.5.
The Tigers enter their fourth season in the SEC in 2015, coming off back-to-back 7-1 conference records that saw them compete in the SEC Championship Game. The Tigers were 12-2 in 2013 and 11-3 in 2014, finishing in the top 15 of the college rankings the last two years. Gary Pinkel is in his 15th year as head coach, going 113-66 in his time with Missouri. Pinkel has had just one losing season in his last 10 years as coach of the Tigers.
Missouri was led by its defense last year, as it held opponents to just 21.1 points per game, which ranked them 19th in the nation. Missouri didn’t have a lot to offer on offense, scoring just 27.8 points per game while averaging only 189.1 yards per game through the air. Missouri does have a lot of talent back this year on offense, led by Maty Mauk, who threw for 2,648 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2014. Russel Hansbrough is also back in the backfield after rushing for 1,084 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014. One area of concern for Missouri is at receiver, as the team loses its top four receiving targets from a year ago.
Missouri has a relatively light non-conference schedule. It hits the road to face Arkansas State while hosting SE Missouri State, Connecticut and BYU. In SEC action, the Tigers will host the likes of South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi State and Tennessee. Road trips will be made to Kentucky, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. Though the conference schedule seems rough, nobody expected Missouri to reach the SEC title game the last two seasons, so there isn’t reason to believe the Tigers can’t do it again.
