Richt gets extension at Georgia
ATHENS, GA (TheSpread) – Mark Richt isn’t going anywhere, as he agreed to a new two-year contract extension with Georgia on Wednesday.
Richt has been with Georgia since 2001 and his new deal is a two-year extension to his current contract, with one major raise, bumping his salary up $800,000 to $4 million per year.
“We are very pleased with the direction of our program under Mark’s leadership,” Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said in a statement released by the school. “Mark and his staff are making significant strides in all areas of our program, and we look forward to great things in the years to come.”
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Georgia currently has 20/1 odds to win next season’s College Football Playoffs. The Bulldogs join the likes of Florida State, LSU, Michigan State and Notre Dame as teams with 20/1 odds. Ohio State is the current favorite with 5/1 odds.

Richt has a career record of 136-48 at Georgia with a 78-34 record in the SEC. The Bulldogs went 10-3 this past season and 6-2 in the SEC with a win in the Belk Bowl to end the year. The Bulldogs last won the SEC title in 2005 and their last division title came in 2012.
