Miami Season Odds
MIAMI, FL (TheSpread) – After taking a step backwards in the 2014 college football season, will the Miami Hurricanes get back to being a winning team in 2015?
According to the latest oddsmakers, Miami has been given 75/1 odds to win the college football playoffs in the upcoming season. The Hurricanes are getting +1200 odds to win the ACC Championship, while the over/under total for wins this season has been set at 6.5.
Al Golden is entering his fifth season as head coach of the Hurricanes. He is coming off a 6-7 record in the 2014 season, which included a 3-5 ACC record. It was Golden’s worst outing as coach of the Hurricanes, as he is now 28-22 in four seasons with a 16-16 record in ACC play.
Miami had a respectable offense in 2014, scoring 29.2 points per game while posting 430.3 yards per game. The Miami defense was also decent, holding opponents to just 24.3 points per game. Still, the Hurricanes lost their last four games, two of them by four points or less. The team will have a big hole in the backfield as it has to replace Duke Johnson, who rushed for 1,652 yards and 10 scores last year. However, quarterback Brad Kaaya threw for 3,198 yards and 26 touchdowns. Kaaya will have to develop new targets, however, as Miami has lost its top three receivers from a year ago to the NFL.
Miami opens the year with two very winnable games, as it faces Bethune-Cookman and FAU. Then it hosts Nebraska before closing non-conference play at Cincinnati. ACC play features home games with Virginia Tech, Clemson, Virginia and Georgia Tech. Road trips include Florida State, Duke, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. Miami should be able to get some wins with Kaaya and its defense, but forecasting a title could be tough.
