According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the over/under win total odds for the Buckeyes has been set at 10.5 this season. The over has odds of -125, while the under has a money line of -105.
Ohio State went unbeaten in Meyer’s first year with the team, but the Buckeyes couldn’t compete in postseason play. Last year, OSU started 12-0 before running into Michigan State in the conference title game and then losing to Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
This year’s team has some strong talent back, but just five starters back on offense. Helping make up for some of the transition on offense will be Braxton Miller returning for his senior season. Miller had 2,094 yards passing with 24 touchdowns and 1,068 yards rushing with 12 scores. He helped Ohio State average 45.5 points and 511.9 yards per game a year ago. The Buckeyes will work in a new running back and have to fill four spots on the offensive line, but Meyer has recruited well in his two seasons, which should help fill the gaps.
Defensively, Ohio State allowed 22.6 points and 377.4 yards per game last season. This year’s team has six starters back, most of which come on the front seven. Noah Spence will lead the way at defensive end. He had eight sacks a year ago. In the secondary, Ohio State will replace three starters from a unit that already ranked 110th nationally in passing yards allowed.
Bet on College Football Futures Odds
Ohio State enters this season favored to win the Big Ten. If that pans out, the Buckeyes will play at least 14 games this season, with the potential for a 15th game should it be placed in the playoffs. Ohio State won’t play a true road game in non-conference play, hosting Virginia Tech, Kent State and Cincinnati. Conference play sees Ohio State hosting rival Michigan in its lone test at home. However, the Buckeyes will have to travel to Penn State and Michigan State this season. For Ohio State to get to 11 wins, it will need to win one of those two big conference road games.
