This will be the last time that the teams will play for the BCS title before college football implements a four-team playoff system for 2015. The game will be hosted by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, which is the organizer of the annual Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2014, but the organizers decided to move the contest to Monday because Executive Director Bill Hancock believes it’ll be more fan-friendly.
On January 8, 2013, it was also announced that following this final BCS title game, the first college football playoff semifinal games will be held on January 1, 2015 in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl, and in New Orleans at the Sugar Bowl. The first four-team playoff championship game will also be held on a Monday night, this time on January 12, 2015.
