MAC Championship Pick

The Mid-American Conference hosts its championship game on Friday night at 8PM ET when Ohio faces Central Michigan at Ford Field.

Bet Ohio vs. Central Michigan
The Chippewas are 10-2 on the season and 8-2-1 against the point spread odds. The Chippewas have won three straight games with both losses this year coming away from home. CMU won the 2006 MAC Championship over the Bobcats by a score of 31-10.

The Bobcats are 9-3 this year and 7-4 against the spread. The Bobcats have won four straight and covered the spread in three straight.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com have made Central Michigan 13-point favorites over Ohio on Friday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 53.

The Chippewas have the top scoring offense and defense in the MAC, as Central Michigan posts 34.3 points and 419.9 yards per-game while giving up 17.8 points. Dan LeFevour is one of the top quarterbacks in the country as he has thrown for 2,788 yards and 25 touchdowns with only five interceptions while also running for 650 yards and 14 scores.

Ohio is scoring 26.7 points per-game with a solid passing game behind quarterback Theo Scott. Scott has thrown for 2,120 yards and 19 touchdowns this year, but injured his ankle on the final offensive play of last week’s win over Temple. The Bobcats are allowing 21.4 points per-game on defense this year. Ohio also has four special teams touchdowns on the year and has one of the best punt returns units in the nation behind LaVon Brazill, who averages 15 yards per-return and has three touchdowns this season.

The key to this pick is in the health of the Bobcats. Scott is likely to play but is also not likely to be 100 percent. Brazill is also nursing an injury and the Bobcats have injuries on the offensive line. The Chippewas have always been a strong offensive team behind LeFevour, but this year, Central Michigan has added a strong defense. Ohio will likely be unable to run the ball effectively against the Chippewas, which forces Scott to have to match touchdowns with LeFevour. Ohio is likely to get overwhelmed early, as the Chippewas play their sixth game at Ford Field in four years. We suggest a pick of Central Michigan with the over.
