New Mexico Bowl Prediction
Is New Mexico a safe bet as a touchdown-sized favorite today against Texas-San Antonio in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl at 2:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Lobos are 7.5-point favorites to knock off the Roadrunners, while the over/under currently sits at 58 points. While the point spread hasn’t moved off that 7.5 number, the total opened at 62.5 before dropping to 58.

NEW MEXICO: The Lobos finished the regular season with an 8-4 record and went 6-6 against the spread. They won six of their last seven games and capped off their regular season with a 56-35 rout over a Wyoming team that had an excellent season. This is the second time that New Mexico has appeared in this bowl, which is essentially a home game for the Lobos.
TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO: The Roadrunners are playing in their first-ever bowl game after finishing 6-6 in the regular season. They beat Charlotte 33-14 in their final regular season game in order to become bowl eligible. They’re 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall but have struggled to cover coming off wins, going 1-5 against the number in their last six games following a victory.

OUR PREDICTION: I usually back programs that are playing in their first bowl game, because it often means more to them than it does their opponent (in the case of New Mexico, especially when the opponent just played in the same bowl a year ago). That said, the Lobos have a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in Teriyon Gipson and Tyrone Owens, plus Richard McQuarley, who has 16 touchdowns on the year. New Mexico’s triple-option will give the Roadrunners fits today and I expect the Lobos to eventually pull away. They’ve been a good bet of late, covering in five of their last seven games overall.
