Bama working without Tua
Alabama is coming off a 66-3 win over Western Carolina last weekend for a second straight victory. The Crimson Tide are 10-1 on the season, 6-1 in the SEC, 6-5 against the spread and 6-5 with the over. Bama can’t make the SEC title game but still has playoff aspirations.
On the year, Alabama is pretty strong on both sides of the ball. The Tide have put up 48.5 points and 513.4 yards per game, while the defense is giving up just 16.2 points and 315.5 yards per contest. Tua Tagovailoa was lost a few weeks ago with a hip injury. He had thrown for 2,840 yards and 33 touchdowns. Mac Jones has filled in and thrown for 841 yards and seven touchdowns in his place. Najee Harris is leading the offense with 942 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns while Devonta Smith has 60 receptions for 1,120 yards and 13 touchdowns. Anfernee Jennings is leading the defense with 67 tackles, 7.5 sacks and an interception.
Auburn rolls Samford
Auburn took a week off from conference play last week as well, dominating Samford for a 52-0 victory. The Tigers are now 8-3 on the season, 4-3 in the SEC, 8-3 against the spread and 7-4 with the under.
The Tigers have been very strong on defense this year, allowing just 16.2 points and 306.5 yards per game. Offensively, Auburn is putting up 32.7 points and 427.5 yards per game. Freshman Bo Nix has thrown for 2,193 yards and 14 touchdowns this year to lead the offense. He also has rushed for 257 yards and six touchdowns. JaTarvious Whitlow is the team’s leading rusher with 625 yards and nine touchdowns while Seth Williams is the top receiver with 52 catches for 735 yards and eight scores. Marlin Davidson is leading the defense with 44 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Alabama
The Tide have hit the over in four of their last five games in November and in seven of their last eight after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
Auburn
The Tigers have hit the under in five of their last six games in November and in four of their last five conference games.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in three of their last four meetings, including in two straight meetings in Auburn. It’s hard to know what to expect from the Bama offense this week with Jones. He hasn’t really been tested by a good defense. Auburn certainly posed a great challenge to the LSU offense than Bama did, so I think Auburn is going to give problems to Bama as well. I don’t see Auburn doing much with its offense either. The Tigers just aren’t very explosive and Nix hasn’t really wowed me with his play-making ability against good defenses. I look for the under to hit in this physical battle.
