According to the latest oddsmakers, Notre Dame is the favorite at home, as the Fighting Irish are getting odds of -20.5 points against Boston College. The over/under total for the game is listed at 64 points. The public betting currently is split down the middle for this one, 50-50. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Notre Dame dominates Navy
Notre Dame is riding a hot streak, as the Fighting Irish have won their last three games, including a 52-20 win at home over Navy last weekend. ND is now 8-2 on the season, 6-4 against the spread and 6-4 with the under.
The Irish have been pretty solid all year on defense, allowing just 19.3 points and 332.2 yards per game. The ND offense is putting up 36 points and 423 yards per contest. Ian Book has thrown for 2,293 yards and 26 touchdowns to lead the offense this year. Book has also rushed for 421 yards and four scores. Tony Jones Jr. is the leading rusher with 611 yards and five touchdowns, while Chase Claypool is the top receiver with 49 catches for 768 yards and nine touchdowns.
Eagles fall to Florida State
Boston College is coming off a bye last week, but suffered a 38-31 loss at home to Florida State two weeks ago. The Eagles are now just 5-5 on the year, 6-4 against the spread and 8-2 with the over.
The Eagles have usually been known for a strong defense and poor offense, but that has been the opposite this year. BC is averaging 33.8 points and 483.2 yards per game on offense while giving up 32.1 points and 486.9 yards per game on defense. The Eagles have a great ground attack that is led by AJ Dillon, who has 1,451 yards and 13 scores. David Bailey has added 765 yards and seven touchdowns. Anthony Brown had thrown for 1,250 yards and nine scores, but was lost for the season to a knee injury. Dennis Grosel has taken over and thrown for 710 yards and eight scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games, but just 7-16-1 ATS in their last 24 games in November.
Boston College
The Eagles are 11-5-1 against the spread in their last 16 games against a winning team, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games.
Prediction:
The Irish have won six straight in this series, but BC has covered the spread in four of those six games. Scoring hasn’t usually been a big part of this series, but it should be today, which I think helps the Irish. Boston College hasn’t shown that usual defensive ability we have known in years prior. The Eagles gave up 38 to FSU and 59 to Clemson. They have allowed at least 24 in six straight and I expect the Irish to push for around 40 with their control up front. BC has been able to find points as well, but I think the Eagles could struggle to match scores with the Irish in the second half, leading to a cover at home.
