CMU vs. EMU Prediction
Two in-state MAC rivals meet up tonight when Eastern Michigan plays host to Central Michigan tonight at 7PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Central Michigan is the slight favorite on the road, as the Chippewas are getting odds of -1 point against the Eagles. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 58.5 points. Central Michigan has won four straight meetings with EMU, covering the spread in three of the four wins.
Central Michigan is coming off a 27-20 win over Ohio last week to move to 6-5 on the season and 3-4 in the MAC. The Chippewas snapped a three-game losing streak in the win. They are now 5-6 against the spread this year. CMU is averaging 28.3 points and 396.2 yards per game on offense this season, led by the play of senior quarterback Cooper Rush. He has thrown for 3,043 yards and 23 touchdowns this season and also has 12 interceptions. The CMU defense has allowed 28.5 points and 361.5 yards per game. They struggle against the run, allowing 159.4 yards per contest.
Eastern Michigan is coming off a 31-24 OT loss to Northern Illinois last week to fall to 6-5 on the season and 3-4 in the MAC. The Eagles are 8-3 against the spread on the year, but have failed to cover in two of their last three games. Eastern is averaging 30.8 points and 446.3 yards per game on offense. Ian Eriksen has run for 741 yards and nine touchdowns this season while Brogan Roback has thrown for 2,039 yards and 14 touchdowns with five interceptions. Defensively, EMU is giving up 31.2 points and 439.8 yards per game. They have struggled against the pass, allowing 273 yards per game.
Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan are rivals and both really need the win to try and secure a bowl game. The Eagles have had a resurgence this season while the Chippewas have been struggling toward the end of the season. With this game being in Ypsilanti, I like the Eagles to find a way to win. Central’s offense just hasn’t been consistent enough.
