Central Michigan Chippewas Game Notes
Central Michigan redshirt freshman QB Daniel Richardson completed 21-of-27 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns in a 54-30 win over Kent State on Wednesday. The Chippewas got down 14-0 early before Richardson (5’10/205) helped them rally to tie the game with a well designed bootleg to the left side where he found Dallas Dixon crossing the field for an 18-yard touchdown pass. The redshirt freshman signal caller was rock solid in the victory, completing 78 percent of his pass attempts and carving up the Golden Flashes for 9.4 yards per pass attempt. Richardson has been on fire the past four games, posting a cool 10-to-0 TD/INT ratio over that span while leading CMU to four wins in their last five contests. He will once again lead Central Michigan against Ball State next Wednesday night.
Ball State Cardinals Game Notes
Ball State redshirt senior QB Rocky Drew Plitt completed 11-of-26 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown in a heartbreaking 30-29 loss to Northern Illinois on Wednesday. Plitt (6’2/217) didn’t have his best performance, with the Ball State running game leading the way by racking up 246 rushing yards on 33 carries. His best play came when he dropped back to throw and bought himself time to throw until Jayshon Jackson completed his crossing route allowing Plitt to hit him in stride for a 15-yard touchdown strike. His problems derived from missing several wide open receivers for potentially big plays, as he just couldn’t manage to get on the same page with his wideouts. To be fair, he was victimized by a few drops, but that doesn’t outweigh his problematic accuracy issues. Plitt will look to pick up the pieces next Wednesday against Central Michigan.
