Western Michigan redshirt sophomore QB Kaleb Eleby completed 12-of-20 passes for 217 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Tuesday’s 45-40 win over Akron. Western Michigan entered this game as 24.5 point favorites, but Akron shocked the Broncos with a battle on Tuesday night. It took Eleby (6’1/215) and Western Michigan down to the final drive of the game to pull out the victory, after Eleby connected with wide receiver Corey Crooms on a 45-yard touchdown with 1:24 remaining in the game to put the Broncos up 45-40. Eleby has now thrown for 2,470 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions on the season while also rushing for 48 yards and four touchdowns. Eleby and the Broncos travel to Eastern Michigan next Tuesday night.
Eastern Michigan Game Notes
Eastern Michigan senior QB Ben Bryant completed 41-of-57 passes for 354 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Tuesday’s 34-26 loss to Ohio. Bryant (6’3/218) threw a season-high 57 passes in this one, as he and the Eagles trailed throughout this one. His lone touchdown pass on the day came in the third quarter on a five-yard pass to Dylan Drummond to tie the game at 20-20, but that was the closest Eastern Michigan would get after trailed 20-13 at halftime. Bryant managed just 6.2 yards per attempt in this game, his lowest of the season since averaging 3.3 Y/A in Week 2 against Wisconsin, as he and the Eagles never quite found their groove on offense throughout this one. Now sitting at 6-4 on the season, Eastern Michigan will look to rebound next Tuesday night against in-state rival Western Michigan.
Western Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan Week 12 Betting Prediction
The Broncos are 1-4 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams and while the road side has cashed in five of the last six meetings, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five games. Western is also 1-7-1 against the spread in its last nine conference games, is 1-4-1 against the number in its last six games overall and is 1-3-1 ATS in its last five road games. On the other side, the Eagles are 22-9 against the spread in their last 31 games coming off a loss and are 27-12 against the number in their last 39 games as an underdog.
