College Football Picks: Can Ohio State and Michigan State hit the over?

Can No. 2 Ohio State continue its high scoring pace when it takes Michigan State this Saturday at Noon ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Ohio State is favored on the road in this contest, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of -21.5 points against the Spartans. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 55 points. Ohio State has won seven of the last 10 meetings with Michigan State. These two have hit the under in five of their last eight encounters.

The Buckeyes are 9-1 on the season following a 62-3 win at Maryland last week. Ohio State is 5-5 with the over/under total on the season, hitting the over in two straight. Ohio State is putting up 46.5 points and 511.4 yards per game on offense this season. J.T. Barrett has thrown for 2,218 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 617 yards and eight scores. Mike Weber has added 935 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Curtis Samuel has run for 637 yards as well while catching 57 passes for 750 yards. Defensively, Ohio State is holding opponents to just 12.7 points and 274.4 yards per game.

Bet on Ohio State vs. Michigan State

Michigan State is coming off a 49-0 win over Rutgers last week to snap a 7-game losing streak. The Spartans are now 3-7 on the season and 6-4 with the under. Michigan State has been struggling most of the season on offense, averaging 26.1 points and 406.3 yards per game. They do have a decent run game, putting up 175.6 yards per game. LJ Scott is the leading rusher with 775 yards and five touchdowns. Tyler O’Connor has thrown for 1,747 yards and 15 touchdowns. Defensively, MSU is giving up 27.1 points and 360.5 yards per contest. The Spartans are allowing 160.3 yards per game. The team could be without stud defensive lineman Malik McDowell, who sat out last week’s game with an ankle injury.

Michigan State looked good last week, but it was against a very poor Rutgers team. Don’t look for the Spartans to have the same offensive success against Ohio State. However, I think the defense will be able to compete somewhat with the Buckeyes. That should allow these two to hit the under.
