East Carolina Pirates Game Notes
Holton Ahlers completed 15 of 22 passes for 197 yards, rushing five times for 18 yards and two touchdowns, in Friday’s 27-24 win at BYU. Ahlers finished Friday’s game without a touchdown for the first time this season, and set season lows for passing yards and completions. However, his two short rushing touchdowns made up for his lack of production through the air. Ahlers now has four rushing touchdowns in the last three games, with the Pirates using his legs more while deep in the red zone. After a bye next week, Ahlers and the Pirates face a tough Cincinnati team on the road, who allow just 185 passing yards per game.
Cincinnati Bearcats Game Notes
Ben Bryant completed 25 of 35 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns, losing 11 yards on three carries in Saturday’s 20-10 win over Navy. Bryant was solid on Saturday, passing for his most yards in AAC play to this point. He also completed 71.4 percent of his passes, a promising sign after two consecutive inefficient games. Bryant has also not thrown an interception in the past three games after starting the season with six interceptions in the first six games. Next Friday’s matchup with ECU will give Bryant a solid chance for another good game throwing the ball.
