Sooners still hurting from loss
Oklahoma was off last week, but the Sooners are coming off a surprising 48-41 loss at Kansas State two weeks ago. The score was closer than the actual game was, as the Wildcats led big in the second half. Oklahoma is now 7-1 on the year, 4-1 in the Big 12, 4-4 against the spread and 4-3-1 with the over.
The Sooners still come into this game with the nation’s top offense, averaging 49.2 points and 598.4 yards per game. Defensively, Oklahoma is allowing 23 points and 339.9 yards per game this year. Jalen Hurts continues to have a great year, as he has thrown for 2,469 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 801 yards and 13 scores. Three other Sooners have over 350 rushing yards and multiple touchdowns to help a strong rushing attack. CeeDee Lamb is leading the Oklahoma receivers with 36 catches for 816 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Cyclones looking to bounce back
Iowa State is coming off a 34-27 loss at home to Oklahoma State two weeks ago that put an end to a three-game win streak for the Cowboys. The Cyclones are now 5-3 on the season, 3-2 in the Big 12, 4-3-1 against the spread and 4-3-1 with the under.
The Cyclones have been led by their offense this season, averaging 35.9 points and 480 yards per game. Defensively, Iowa State is allowing 22.9 points and 342.4 yards per contest. Brock Purdy has thrown for 2,567 yards and 15 touchdowns this year to lead the offense. Breece Hall is the leading rusher with 475 yards and seven scores, while Deshaunte Jones leads a balanced receiving core with 52 catches for 586 yards and a score.
College Football Betting Trends
Oklahoma
The Sooners are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a bye week.
Iowa State
The Cyclones are 15-5-2 against the spread in their last 22 conference games, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games on grass.
Prediction:
The road team has won three straight int his series and Iowa State has actually covered in its last three meetings with the Sooners. Iowa State has been able to do a nice job defensively against Lincoln Riley in previous meetings, but the Cyclones are getting Oklahoma coming off a loss and then a bye. The Sooners should be foaming at the mouth to put a hurting on someone today. The Oklahoma offense hasn’t been stopped this year and I think the Sooners could put up close to 50 at home tonight. The Oklahoma defense is limited in how much it can stop an opponent, but it should do well enough to allow the Sooners to cover tonight.
