Maryland vs. Michigan Pick
Can No. 3 Michigan return home and shutdown a Maryland team that is looking to get to .500 in the Big Ten when the two meet up on Saturday at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Michigan is favored at home in this game, as the Wolverines are getting odds of -31 points against Maryland. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 54 points. Michigan has won four of five meetings with Maryland and the two have hit the under in their last two meetings.
Michigan is coming off a 32-23 win over Michigan State last week to improve to 8-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines have hit the over in six of their eight games this year as well. The Wolverines gave up 23 points last week but they are allowing just 11.6 points and 231.3 yards per game on the season. Michigan is allowing only 120.1 yards per game through the air, which is tops in the nation. Offensively, Michigan is putting up 46.6 points and 477.1 yards per game. They have a great ground game, with four backs at 348 yards or more this season. Quarterback Wilton Speight has thrown for 1,691 yards and 13 touchdowns with three interceptions. Amara Darboh is the leading receiver with 38 receptions for 664 yards and five touchdowns.
Maryland is coming off a 42-36 loss at Indiana last week to fall to 5-3 on the season and 2-3 in the Big Ten. The Terps are 6-2 with the under this year, as their defense is giving up just 23.3 points per game. However, the unit is allowing 401.5 yards per game, including 220.1 rushing yards per contest. On offense, Maryland is putting up 32.6 points and 423.8 yards per contest, including 252 rushing yards per game. Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison have combined for 1,199 yards rushing and nine touchdowns while Perry Hills has thrown for 1,070 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Michigan returns home, where it has failed to put up anything shy of 41 points, outside of the game against Wisconsin. Maryland is not Wisconsin. The Wolverines should be able to continue to run the ball all over the Terps. However, Maryland’s offense concerns me. The Terrapins have been able to move the ball on some bad teams, but they have only put up 10 points against Minnesota and 14 against Penn State. Michigan should be able to limit the Terps without much trouble.
