Wake bounces back
Wake Forest bounced back from its first loss of the season by beating Florida State 22-20 two weeks ago at home. The Demon Deacons are now 6-1 on the season, 3-1 in the ACC, 3-3-1 against the spread and 4-3 with the under.
The Demon Deacons have one of the top offenses in the nation, averaging 37.1 points and 523.9 yards per game. Defensively, Wake is allowing 26.7 points and 419.3 yards per contest. Jamie Newman is leading the team with 1,772 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, while also rushing for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Newman is questionable to play today due to a shoulder injury, but there have been no indications he won’t play. Sage Surratt is the top receiver with 53 catches for 881 yards and nine touchdowns. Carlos Basham Jr. is leading the defense with 32 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
N.C. State falls at BC
The N.C. State Wolfpack are coming off a 45-25 loss at Boston College two weeks ago. They have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. N.C. State is 4-3 on the season, 1-2 in the ACC, 2-5 against the spread and 5-2 with the under.
N.C. State isn’t too bad on defense, allowing just 22.7 points and 354.1 yards per game. Louis Acceus is leading the defense with 45 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Offensively, the Wolfpack are averaging 27 points and 414.7 yards per contest. Devin Leary was given the ball to lead the offense last week and he threw for three touchdowns. Leary has 336 passing yards on the year. Zonovan Knight is leading the ground game with 381 yards and three touchdowns while Emeka Emezie has 35 catches for 380 yards.
College Football Betting Trends
The Deacons are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games following a cover and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a win.
The Wolfpack are 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 conference games and 0-5 ATS in their last five road games.
Wake Forest has won the last two against N.C. State and covered the spread in both wins. However, both were by six points or less. Road games haven’t went well for the Wolfpack this year, as each has been a double-digit defeat against the likes of Florida State, West Virginia and Boston College. While Wake Forest hasn’t been blowing many opponents out this year, I think this is their chance to finally get a sizable win. The N.C. State defense is going to have trouble slowing down the Wake offense and the Deacons have enough defense to make things a struggle for the NC State offense. At home, Wake should be able to score at a pace that N.C. State just can’t keep up with.
College Football Week 10 Prediction: Wake Forest -6.5
