Huskers heating up
Nebraska has put together back-to-back wins over Minnesota and Bethune Cookman to get in the win column. The Cornhuskers are now 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the Big Ten. They are 2-5-1 against the spread and 5-3 with the over.
The Cornhuskers are not strong on defense this year, allowing 33.4 points and 438 yards per contest thus far. Defensively, Nebraska has shown some life, averaging 29.8 points and 471.3 yards per game. They have a steady run game that puts up 220.6 yards per contest. Devine Ozigbo is leading the offense with 710 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Adrian Martinez has thrown for 1,656 yards and 11 touchdowns with just six interceptions. JD Spielman is the leading receiver with 53 catches for 686 yards and seven touchdowns.
Ohio State handled by Purdue
The Buckeyes are coming off a bye last week, but suffered a 49-20 loss at Purdue prior to that for their first loss. Ohio State is now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Big Ten. They are just 3-5 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total. They have failed to cover in four straight.
Ohio State hasn’t been as dominant on defense as it usually is. The team is without top player, Nick Bosa, who left the team following an injury. The Buckeyes are now giving up 22.9 points and 390.8 yards per game in 2018. On offense, OSU is posting 43.0 points and 555.5 yards per contest. Their passing game is averaging 383 yards per game. Dwayne Haskins has thrown for 2,801 yards and 30 touchdowns with just five interceptions. K.J. Hill has been his top receiver with 49 catches for 656 yards and four scores. On the ground, J.K. Dobbins is the leading rusher with 521 yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Nebraska
Nebraska is 2-6 against the spread in its last eight against a winning team.
Ohio State
Ohio State is 2-6 against the spread in its last eight against a losing team and the Buckeyes have failed to cover in four straight conference games.
Prediction:
Ohio State hasn’t been able to pull away from opponents as of late. While getting a week of rest, that week has been filled with more rumors of dissention within the program. Nebraska has been showing improvement over the last month and starting to find some consistent offense. The Huskers played competitive at Wisconsin and at Northwestern. I think they can do it at Ohio State against a team that is still trying to find its identity on defense.
College Football Prediction: Nebraska +17.5
