Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Game Notes

Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed 20-of-31 passes for 229 yards while rushing 13 times for 116 yards and two scores in Saturday's 34-19 win over Fresno State. Cordeiro (6'1/190) played some last season, but was never the full-time starting QB over Cole McDonald. With McDonald now out of the picture, Cordeiro seems to have taken a leap forward. Not only did he do his part in generating an efficient, safe passing game, but he was a monster on the ground, which is something McDonald did not quite provide in the same capacity. Perhaps Cordeiro will need to add a smidgen more in the passing game in other games this season, but if nothing else, he looks to be providing the Hawaii offense with a solid baseline as a dual-threat. Hawaii will head to Wyoming next weekend.

Wyoming Cowboys Game Notes

Wyoming redshirt sophomore Sean Chambers (leg) suffered a fractured left fibula in Saturday's game against Nevada. It was another unfortunate break for Chambers (6'3/218) who also had his 2019 season cut short due to a season-ending knee injury against Nevada on Oct. 26. The redshirt sophomore was tackled on a third down rushing attempt, landing awkwardly on his leg in the process. Ironically, both injuries occurred against Nevada. Sophomore QB Levi Williams will likely serve as the Cowboys' starting quarterback unless Chambers is able to make a miraculous recovery. Wyoming welcomes Hawaii to Laramie this Saturday.
