Washington Huskies
Washington senior QB Jake Browning completed 15-of-25 passes for 150 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 27-13 win over Colorado on Saturday. It wasn’t Browning’s best day, and he threw an interception that set up a field goal near the end of the second half. That being said, he was hurt tremendously by drops, so he deserved better than this stat line. His touchdown put away the game; a fourth-and-five dart to Aaron Fuller on a slant that Fuller took to the house to make it 27-13 in the middle of the fourth. Browning and the Huskies take on Cal next Saturday.
Cal Golden Bears
Cal redshirt freshman QB Chase Garbers completed 17-of-26 passes for 234 yards with three scores on Saturday in a 49-7 rout of Oregon State. Garbers missed on a couple of throws — and didn’t really have to do much against the wretched Oregon State defense — but it was a strong performance, and a reminder that Garbers (6’2/205) has talent in his right arm. There might be a quarterback controversy right now, but if Garbers is healthy, he might give them the best chance to win right now. Don’t be surprised if he’s under center against the Huskies of Washington next Saturday.
