Cal Golden Bears Game Notes
California senior QB Chase Garbers completed 14-of-30 passes for 152 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception in Saturday’s 21-6 loss to Washington State. Garbers (6’2/215) had been playing really well over the last three games, throwing for two touchdowns in each, he would not find the end zone for the first time this season. The Washington State defense did not allow the Golden Bears to extend drives as they 3-for-15 on third downs. Garbers and Cal rides a two-game losing streak into a road matchup against Oregon coming off an upset overtime loss to Stanford.
Oregon Ducks Game Notes
Oregon HC Mario Cristobal is confident in junior RB Travis Dye to handle an increased workload. With the season-ending injury to CJ Verdell, Dye (5’10″/200) is set to become the feature back for the Ducks. With Dye having never been a feature back before, head coach Mario Cristobal was asked why he was so confident in the junior running back. “He’s handled it really well. he’s bigger, he’s stronger, and he’s done a great job for us. We expect him to play excellent football.” Dye will get his first start this season as the Ducks take on Cal Friday night.
