Baylor surprising many
Baylor is coming off a 31-12 win at Kansas State last weekend for its biggest win of the season. The Bears are now 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Big 12. They have a 3-2 mark against the spread while going 3-2 with the under.
The Bears have been very balanced on offense and defense, ranking in the top 30 nationally in both. Baylor gives up just 15.4 points and 306.2 yards per game this year while the offense is putting up 38.8 points and 465.6 yards per game. Charlie Brewer is leading the offense with 1,202 passing yards and 11 touchdowns without an interception. Denzel Mims is his leading receiver with 29 catches for 438 yards and five scores while John Lovett is leading the ground attack with 312 yards and three touchdowns. Clay Johnston is leading the Baylor defense with 48 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
Texas Tech gets big win at home
Texas Tech is coming off its biggest win of the year, topping Oklahoma State at home last weekend, 45-35. The Red Raiders improved to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Big 12. Tech is 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under.
Tech has been a mix of good and bad. The Red Raiders are putting up 31.6 points and 483.8 yards per game on offense while giving up 26.2 points and 414.4 yards per game on defense. Quarterback Alan Bowman continues to be out with a shoulder injury, but Jett Duffey has thrown for 548 yards and four touchdowns in his place. Armand Shyne is the leading rusher with 281 yards and three scores while T.J. Vasher has caught 24 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Baylor
The Bears have covered the spread in five straight against winning teams and six of their last seven following a win.
Texas Tech
The Red Raiders are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 against a winning team, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games.
Prediction:
The road team has won four of the last five in this series, covering the spread in three of those four wins as well. Texas Tech picked up a big win over Oklahoma State last week, but the Red Raiders have been frauds on the road. They scored a combined 30 points against Arizona and Oklahoma in their two road games. Baylor’s defense is pretty solid and should be able to do the job at home today. The Bears aren’t an offensive power, but I could see an uptick in scoring against a poor Texas Tech defense. I don’t see the Red Raiders being focused after a big win last week.
