Texas St. vs. Lafayette Total Pick

Will Texas State vs. Lafayette hit the over? College Football Predictions

Can the Louisiana-Lafayette football team put up a high total when it plays host to Texas State on Thursday at 7:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Lafayette is favored at home, as the Ragin’ Cajuns are getting odds of -14 points against the Bobcats. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 57 points. Lafayette has won the last four meetings with Texas State and the two have split the over/under total in those four meetings. Thursday’s game takes place from Cajun Field in Lafayette, Louisiana. The game will air on ESPNU.

Texas State is 1-5 on the season, but on a 5-game losing streak. The Bobcats are 0-2 in the Sun Belt Conference while going 3-3 with the over/under total. Texas State has been a mess on offense thus far, averaging just 14.5 points and 300.7 yards per game. The team is being led by Damian Williams, who has thrown for 895 yards and four touchdowns with four interceptions. Anthony D. Taylor is the leading rusher with 256 yards while Elijah King has 16 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Texas State is allowing 33.7 points and 410.3 yards per game.

Lafayette is 2-3 this season following a win over Idaho last week. The Ragin’ Cajuns are 1-1 in the Sun Belt Conference and 4-1 with the over this season. Defensively, Lafayette is allowing 46.2 points and 506.6 yards per game. The Cajuns are giving up 265.2 rushing yards per contest. On offense, Lafayette is putting up 37 points and 418.2 yards per game. Andre Nunez has taken over the starting QB job with 500 passing yards and three touchdowns in the last two games. Trey Ragas is leading the offense with 453 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Keenan Barnes is adding 335 receiving yards with a touchdown.

Bet on Texas State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette

Both defenses are weak and while Texas State doesn’t have much of an offense, the Bobcats should find some success this week against a Lafayette defense that is allowing over 500 yards per game. I expect plenty of offense, as Lafayette has hit the over in four straight. Texas State has hit the over in its last five road games against a team with a losing home record. I like this game to get to 60 points.
