App State off to unbeaten start
Appalachian State has been looking strong to start 2019. The Mountaineers are 4-0 following a 56-37 win over Coastal Carolina on Sept. 28. They come into this game 1-0 in the Sun Belt, 3-1 against the spread and 3-1 with the over.
The Mountaineers have been pretty good at scoring this year. They rank fifth nationally at 47 points per game while putting up 429.2 yards per outing. Defensively, Appalachian State is giving up 29 points and 420 yards per contest. Running back Darrynton Evans is leading the team with 471 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while Zac Thomas has thrown for 802 yards and seven scores while rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown. Thomas Hennigan is the team’s leading receiver with 21 catches for 275 yards and two scores.
Cajuns on a win streak
After losing their season opener to Mississippi State by 10, Louisiana has won its last four games, including a 37-24 win at Georgia Southern back on Sept. 28. The Cajuns are 4-1 on the season, 1-0 in the Sen Belt, 5-0 against the spread and 4-1 with the over.
Louisiana has one of the nation’s top offenses, averaging 44.4 points and 540 yards per game. They have the league’s top rushing attack right now with 314 yards per game. Trey Ragas is leading the way with 548 yards and six touchdowns on the ground while Elijah Mitchell has 402 yards and nine scores. Levi Lewis has thrown for 980 yards and eight touchdowns with just two interceptions. Defensively, Louisiana is giving up 21.4 points and 345.2 yards per contest.
College Football Betting Trends
Appalachian State
The Mountaineers have hit the over in four straight following a win, but are 14-5 in their last 19 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game.
Louisiana
The Ragin’ Cajuns have hit the over in four of their last five home games, but are 4-1 with the under in their last five games following a bye week.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in five of their last six meetings, including both encounters last season. Both teams have a lot of offense, but they seem to know each other’s weaknesses and can expose them. Both teams have scored at least 34 points in each of their wins this year, but I am going to go with the trends and say the under will hit. While both teams can run the ball, both have struggled with their passing games against each other in recent meetings. The passing attacks will have to make plays in order for the over to hit.
College Football Week 7 Prediction: Appalachian State/Louisiana Under 68.5
