According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, N.C. State is favored at home in this game, as the Wolfpack are getting odds of -2.5 points against Notre Dame. The Irish are coming off a 50-33 win over Syracuse last week. The Irish are 2-3 on the year and also 2-3 against the spread. The defense continues to be an issue for Notre Dame, as the unit is allowing 33.4 points and 461 yards per game. However, the offense has managed to outshine the defense on a few occasions. The Irish are averaging 39.8 points and 495.4 yards per game on offense, led by Deshone Kizer, who has thrown for 1,567 yards and 14 touchdowns while rushing for 187 yards and six scores. N.C. State is coming off a 33-16 win over Wake Forest last week. The Wolfpack are now 3-1 on the season and 3-1 against the spread. N.C. State has been able to get off to the nice start thanks to a defense that looks much improved. The Wolfpack are allowing just 21.3 points and 321.5 yards per game on defense. They are combining that with an offense this year that is putting up 40 points and 505 yards per game. Ryan Finley has thrown for 1,014 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the offense while Matthew Dayes has run for 437 yards and three touchdowns.
It’s hard to trust the Irish to get stops against any team right now, especially a team with the offensive firepower that N.C. State has. Notre Dame should be able to score its fair share of points, but they will likely get stopped a few times on the road. Look for N.C. State to simply outscore the Irish in this one and get the win and cover.
