Bet on Houston vs. Navy

Houston is looking like a potential playoff team in 2016. The Cougars are 5-0 on the season, 2-0 in the AAC and 4-1 against the spread. Houston is bringing one of the nation’s top offenses to the field today, as the Cougars are putting up 44.2 points and 506 yards per game right now. They also have one of the top defensive units in the country, as the Cougars are holding opponents to just 11.2 points per game and 250 yards per game. Houston ranks first in the nation in run defense, allowing just 42 yards per game on the ground. On offense, Greg Ward Jr. has been outstanding, throwing for 1,325 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 178 yards and five scores.

Navy is coming off a 28-14 loss to Air Force on the road, its first loss of the season. The Midshipmen are now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the AAC with a 2-1-1 record against the spread. Navy relies a lot on its run game, averaging 251.5 yards per contest on the ground. This game should be somewhat smash mouth, but Houston should ultimately impose its will on the Midshipmen. The Houston defense will keep Navy from being able to successfully run the ball while the Cougars will find ways to grind out possessions on offense. Ward Jr. will certainly make some big plays with his arms and legs and lead Houston to a cover in a low-scoring contest.
