UNC vs. Florida State Pick
Will No. 12 Florida State have any issues holding off North Carolina when the two meet up on Saturday at 3:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Florida State is heavily favored at home, as the Seminoles are getting odds of -11 points against North Carolina. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 70 points. Florida State has won four of the last five against the Heels, but UNC is 3-2 against the spread in those games.
After losing to Louisville 63-20, Florida State got back on track last week with a 55-35 win over South Florida. The Seminoles are 2-1 against the spread this season. FSU is averaging 43 points and 487.3 yards per game on offense thanks to a balanced attack. Dalvin Cook has rushed for 495 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense while Deondre Francois has thrown for 951 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, FSU has to be concerned. The Seminoles are giving up 35 points and 413.5 yards per game this season, including over 200 rushing yards per game.
North Carolina is off to a 3-1 start following a 37-36 win over Pitt. The Heels are 2-2 against the spread on the year. UNC is now averaging 41.3 points and 470.8 yards per game on offense while the defense is giving up 424.8 yards per game. The run defense has been very suspect, allowing 240.3 yards per contest. On offense Mitch Trubisky has thrown for 1,306 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead UNC while Ryan Switzer has 33 receptions for 429 yards. The leading rusher is Elijah Hood, who has 291 yards and four touchdowns.
Both teams have shown weakness this year and both are suspect on defense. However, Florida State has had more problems stopping the run than the pass. They should be able to deal with Trubisky on a somewhat consistent basis. UNC has really struggled to stop the run, which should lead to a very big day for Dalvin Cook and the FSU offense. Look for the Seminoles to control the pace of the game and UNC not to be able to keep up.
