BYU strong on defense
The BYU Cougars are off to a 3-1 start following a win at Wisconsin and a win over McNeese State in the last two weeks. BYU is also 3-1 against the spread while hitting the under in all four contests.
BYU has continued its tradition of being physical at the line of scrimmage. The Cougars are holding opponents to just 17 points and 328.3 yards per game this year. Offensively. BYU hasn’t been overwhelming, averaging just 25 points and 320.3 yards per game. Squally Canada has been leading BYU on offense with 322 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Tanner Mangum has thrown for 612 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Washington wins three straight
Washington had a tough opener, falling to Auburn 21-16. Since then, the Huskies have won three straight, including a 27-20 win over Arizona State last week. Washington is just 1-3 against the spread while hitting the under in all four games as well.
As a Pac-12 team, Washington is usually known for offense but the Huskies have been stellar on defense. They are giving up just 12.8 points and 302.8 yards per game this season. Their pass defense is holding opponents to 154 yards per game. On offense, Washington is averaging 27.3 points and 432.5 yards per game. Quarterback Jake Browning has thrown for 966 yards and seven touchdowns this year with four interceptions. Myles Gaskin has 357 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground while Aaron Fuller has caught 22 passes for 367 yards and a score.
College Football Betting Trends
BYU
BYU has hit the under in six straight games against Pac-12 opponents and in nine of its last 10 games following a cover.
Washington
Washington has hit the under in its last six games in September and in four of its last five against Independent opponents.
Prediction:
The total is being set low for a team of Washington’s capability on offense, but the Huskies just haven’t found that next gear with the ball. BYU’s defense should pose another tough challenge in that regard and I don’t see Browning being able to pick the Cougars apart. BYU isn’t an offense that is going to light up anyone, so it should be limited by a Washington team that has played very well defensively this season.
