Pitt trading wins and losses

The Pitt Panthers are off to a 2-2 start, alternating wins and losses each week. They are coming off a 38-35 loss at North Carolina last week. Pitt is 1-3 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.

Pitt’s defense is giving up 28.8 points per game on defense this year and allowing 396.3 yards per contest. On offense, Pitt is averaging 24.5 points and 361 yards per contest. Qadree Ollison is leading the offense with 355 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Kenny Pickett has thrown for 580 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 117 yards and two scores.

UCF rolling along

UCF has continued where it left off last season. The Knights are 3-0 on the year following a 56-36 win over Florida Atlantic last week. UCF is 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the over. The Knights have covered the spread in four of their last five games.

UCF has a dominant offense that is putting up 50 points and 587.7 yards per game this season. The Knights have a ground game that is approaching 300 yards per game. Five different players have over 100 rushing yards. Adrian Killins Jr. is leading the pack with 193 yards. McKenzie Milton has thrown for 895 yards and nine touchdowns while rushing for 147 yards and three scores. Defensively, the Knights are allowing 17.7 points and 396.7 yards per game, including just 157.7 passing yards per contest.

College Football Betting Trends

The Panthers are 7-19-1 against the spread in their last 27 non-conference games and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games in September.

UCF is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games in September and 8-3-1 ATS in its last 12 games following a cover.

We saw Pitt really struggle with the Penn State offense and I think the UCF offense is more like the Nittany Lions than some may think. UCF has been able to rack up big numbers on any opponent for a while now and I don’t think the Pitt defense is going to stop it. The real question is if the Knights will struggle on defense with the Panthers offense. While I can see Pitt running the ball somewhat, I don’t see the Panthers keeping pace with UCF.
