Notre Dame Fighting Irish Game Notes
Drew Pyne got the call to start and finished by completing 17-of-23 pass attempts for 150 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-17 win over California on Saturday, Sept. 17. With Tyler Buchner sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury, it’s Pyne’s job for the time being. It was choppy at times where he was sacked twice, but Pyne got the victory. Despite facing an undefeated North Carolina team on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Tar Heels passing defense is one of the worst in FBS, allowing 275 yards per game.
North Carolina Tar Heels Game Notes
Josh Downs announced on his twitter that he would be available to play in Saturday’s game against Notre Dame. Downs has only played in one game this season and hauled in nine catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns. In 2021, the junior wideout had a breakout campaign catching 102 passes for 1344 yards and eight touchdowns. If Downs plays this Saturday, expect him to be UNC’s top target.
