Kent State gets OT victory

After a lost at Arizona State to open the season, Kent State picked up a 26-23 win in OT over Kennesaw State last weekend. The Golden Flashes covered in the loss, but not in the win. They have hit the under in both games.

Kent State hasn’t shown much offensively this season, averaging just 16.5 points and 268.5 yards per game thus far. The defense is allowing 26.5 points and 446 yards per game. Dustin Crum is leading the way with 189 passing yards and a touchdown while Jo-El Shaw has rushed for 160 yards. Isaiah McKoy is the leading receiver with nine catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Theo Majette is leading the Kent State defense with 14 tackles and three sacks.

Auburn 2-0 to open

After a big 27-21 win over Oregon in the season opener, Auburn followed that up with a 24-6 win over Tulane at home last weekend. The Tigers have covered the spread in both wins while going under the total in each contest.

The Tigers have been stellar on defense this season, allowing just 13.5 points and 277.5 yards per game. Offensively, Auburn is putting up 25.5 points and 381 yards per contest. Running back JaTarvious Whitlow is leading the ground attack for Auburn with 206 yards and a touchdowns. Bo Nix is a freshman quarterback that has thrown for 384 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 58 yards. Will Hastings has been the leading receiver with six catches for 113 yards and a score. Jeremiah Dinson is leading the defense with 19 tackles, a sack and an interception.

College Football Betting Trends

Kent State

The Golden Flashes are 7-2 with the under in their last nine overall and 6-2 with the under in their last eight non-conference games.

Auburn

Auburn has hit the under in four straight games in September and in 11 of its last 15 home games.

Prediction:

Auburn’s defense has been the story for the Tigers thus far, as they were able to lock up Oregon and Tulane. The Tigers shouldn’t have any problems handling a poor Kent State offense this week. The real question will be is Auburn going to have an offensive breakout game against the Flashes. I don’t really see that happening either. Kent State is respectable on defense, but Auburn just isn’t terribly explosive yet with Nix still finding his footing as a starting college QB.

College Football Week 3 Prediction: Kent State/Auburn Under 52.5
