Iowa Hawkeyes Game Notes
Iowa sophomore RB Tyler Goodson turned 19 carries into 99 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 34-6 blowout win over Indiana. Goodson’s 56-yard touchdown run less than two minutes into the game gave Iowa a 7-0 lead, which they doubled about a minute later with a pick-6. The rout was on from there. Goodson added two receptions for nine yards. ‘Spin Shady’ is an all-purpose runner who is electric in space, evoking his nickname inspiration LeSean McCoy. The Hawkeyes are going to feed him as many touches as he can handle in next week’s titanic in-state matchup against Iowa State.
Iowa State Cyclones Game Notes
Iowa State redshirt junior WR Sean Shaw (upper body) is unlikely to be available for today’s game vs. Iowa, per HC Matt Campbell. Shaw (6’6/220) was held out of Saturday’s 16-10 win over Northern Iowa, and it appears likely that he won’t be available for the rivalry matchup with Iowa, either. The redshirt junior started eight of the Cyclones’ 12 games in 2020, catching 21 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. If Shaw is ruled out, Xavier Hutchinson and Tarique Milton will be asked to shoulder even more of the load in the passing game.

The Hawkeyes are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games versus the Cyclones, are 7-2 against the number in their last nine non-conference games and are 5-2 at the betting window in their last seven road games. On the other side, the Cyclones are just 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 non-conference games, are 0-4 against the number in their lats four games in September and are 2-5-1 at the betting window in their last eight games after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
