Week 2 National Title Betting Odds
With Week 1 in the books, here’s a look at the updated national championship odds in college football.
The Favorite
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Alabama Crimson Tide is a 5/2 favorite to win the national championship after soundly defeating Florida State in its opener. The Crimson Tide opened as 13/4 favorites to win this season’s national title before moving to 9/4 ahead of Week 1. Alabama is a 43.5-point home favorite against Fresno State this Saturday at 3:30PM ET.

The Challenger
Ohio State has the next-best odds behind ‘Bama to win the national championship at 11/2. Quarterback J.T. Barrett completed 20-of-35 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 61 yards and an additional score in Thursday’s 49-21 win over Indiana. The Buckeyes have a stiff Week 2 challenge on Saturday when they host Oklahoma at 7:30PM ET. Ohio State is currently a 7.5-point favorite.
The Rest of the Top 5
After receiving a scare from Western Michigan in their season-opener, the USC Trojans are 8/1 to win the national championship. Redshirt sophomore Sam Darnold completed 22-of-33 passes for 289 yards and two interceptions in a 49-31 win over the Broncos. The two teams were tied midway through the fourth quarter before the Trojans eventually pulled away. USC will take on Stanford on Saturday night at 8:30PM ET. The Cardinal has an advantage of playing two weeks ago so it should be well rested.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma is 14/1 to win the national championship after waxing UTEP in Week 1 and Penn State rounds out the top 5 in terms of the odds at 15/1.

The Rest of the Top 10
Auburn, Clemson and Michigan are all 18/1, respectively, after winning their season-opening matchups. Florida State and Oklahoma State are both 20/1, respectively. The Seminoles were dealt a crushing blow to their national title hopes when quarterback Deondre Francois was lost for the rest of the season after injuring his patella tendon.
