Tyler Boyd Heisman Odds
PITTSBURGH, PA (TheSpread) – If a receiver is going to have a big enough impact to make a Heisman Trophy run this year, it could be Tyler Boyd of Pittsburgh.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Boyd is listed with 100/1 odds to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Trevone Boykin of TCU is the current favorite with 6/1 odds while Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott has 7/1 odds. Jeremy Johnson of Auburn and Nick Chubb of Georgia each have 10/1 odds.
The 6-2, 190-pound junior receiver has had a huge impact in his first two seasons with the Panthers, making it very possible that this could be his last year in college football. As a freshman, Boyd caught 85 passes for 1,174 yards with seven touchdowns. He also ran for 108 yards and a score. Last season, Boyd caught 78 passes for 1,261 yards with eight touchdowns.
Boyd was very consistent in the second half of the season in 2014, as he had at least 5 receptions in each of his final seven games and had over 100 receiving yards in five of his last six games, including 9 receptions for 112 yards in the Armed Forces Bowl. Boyd’s best outing came in a 40-35 loss at North Carolina, as he had five receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown. Boyd has a new coaching staff this season in Pat Narduzzi, who it’s hard to imagine they won’t be utilizing him every chance they get.
