Cincinnati Season Odds
CINCINNATI, OH (TheSpread) – After a pair of 9-win seasons, will the Cincinnati Bearcats be able to take the next step and push toward making the College Football Playoffs this season?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Cincinnati is currently listed with odds of +20000 to win the College Football Playoffs next season. The Bearcats come out of the AAC, which makes their chances to make the playoffs more difficult, due to the conference’s lack of star power.
Tommy Tuberville is entering his third season as head coach of the Bearcats. He has led Cincy to a pair of 9-4 seasons in his first two years, going 12-3 in AAC play during that time. Last season, Cincinnati went 7-1 in conference play to earn a share of the AAC title.
Cincinnati had one of the top passing attacks in the country last season, averaging 303.6 yards per game through the air while allowed the Bearcats to post 34 points per game. In 2014, injuries forced Gunner Kiel into the starting lineup as a freshman, but he did quite well, throwing for 3,254 yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He is back to lead the offense this year and he has all his weapons returning, including five receivers that have over 400 yards in 2014. The Cincinnati defense will need to improve, as it allowed 27.2 points per game. If the Bearcats have any shot at a playoff run, that number will have to get lower.
Cincinnati looks to have a fairly navigable schedule this season. The Bearcats open the season with games against Alabama A&M, Temple and Miami (Ohio) before heading to Memphis for a big AAC contest. The Bearcats will also host the likes of Miami (FL), Connecticut, Central Florida and Tulsa while hitting the road to take on BYU, Houston, South Florida and East Carolina.
