Connor Cook Heisman Odds
EAST LANSING, MI (TheSpread) – Connor Cook emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the country last season. Will he take a step forward this season and contend for the Heisman Trophy?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Cook is currently listed at 20/1 to win the Heisman Trophy for the upcoming season. Currently, Ezekiel Elliott of Ohio State and Trevone Boykin of TCU are co-favorites at 7/1 while Nick Chubb of Georgia has 8/1 odds.
Cook has spent the last two seasons as the starting quarterback of Michigan State and he has led the Spartans to a pair of top-5 finishes nationally. In the 2014 season, Cook posted 3,214 yards with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 58.1 percent of his passes. In 2013, Cook threw for 2,755 yards and 22 touchdowns with just six interceptions while completing 58.7 percent of his passes.
Cook performed pretty well in MSU’s big games. Despite losing to Oregon and Ohio State, he had over 300 yards and two touchdowns in each contest. In the bowl win over Baylor, Cook had 314 passing yards with two touchdowns. One area of concern could be his accuracy, which needs to improve. Cook also throws some poor passes that have been lucky to not be intercepted. His decision making will have to get better if he is going to lead MSU to the playoffs.
