Ohio State extends Urban Meyer
COLUMBUS, OH (TheSpread) – Following a national championship, Urban Meyer has found himself a little bit richer thanks to Ohio State.
Meyer and Ohio State came to terms on a contract extension that will make him the second-highest-paid coach in the nation on Monday. According to ESPN, the new contract has Meyer with the Buckeyes until 2020 with a salary increase that puts him at an average of over $6.5 million throughout the deal.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Ohio State is the favorite to win the national championship again next season, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of 7/2 to win. Alabama has the next shortest odds at 7/1, while TCU has 10/1 odds.
Ohio State is coming off a 14-1 season in 2014 where it went 8-0 in the Big Ten and beat Alabama and Oregon in the college football playoffs to claim the first playoff national title. Meyer is now 38-3 in his three seasons with Ohio State and he is a perfect 24-0 in Big Ten regular-season play. He has won a total of three national championships between his time at Ohio State and Florida.
