Public Backing Clemson over Alabama
As of Monday morning, public bettors are backing the underdog Clemson Tigers over Alabama ahead of tonight's national championship game at 8:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Crimson Tide are now 6.5-point favorites over the Tigers after originally opening as a 7-point fave. As for the total, the number hit the board at 54 but has been bet all the way down to 51 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.
Our College Football Public Betting page shows that 62% of public bettors are currently backing Clemson at the betting window. The Tigers are a perfect 6-0 against the spread in their last six bowl games and are 8-1 at the betting window in their last nine neutral site games. They also covered in last year's national title game as a 6-point favorite when they scored late in a 45-40 loss to Alabama.
The Tide is hot at the betting window too, however. Alabama is 7-2 against the spread in its last nine games overall, is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games versus ACC opponents, and is 14-4 ATS in its last 18 games when playing a team with a winning record. Nick Saban's squad has covered in four of its last five non-conference games as well.
Kickoff tonight between Clemson and Alabama will take place at 8:00PM ET from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. You can check out an advanced matchup report on tonight's game here.
