CFB Championship Injury Report
Will No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson come into tonight’s College Football Playoff National Championship healthy? Here is the latest on the injury report.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Alabama is the favorite for this game, as Alabama is currently getting odds of -6.5 points against Clemson. The over/under total is listed at 51 points. The College Football Playoff National Championship Game takes place at 8PM ET from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
Neither team really comes into this game with any real concerning injuries. Alabama has a few lingering injuries on offense. B.J. Emmons, a lightly used back that rushed for 173 yards during the season, is out with a foot sprain. Offensive linemen Josh Casher and Alphonse Taylor are also listed as out. Casher broke his foot during the SEC Championship. One major departure on offense is Lane Kiffin, the offensive coordinator who took over the head-coaching job at FAU. Steve Sarkisian will be calling the offense tonight for the first time all season. Defensively, Bama lost linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton to a knee injury in the SEC Championship while Dakota Ball had an accident with a gun take his finger and leave him out. Hamilton had 64 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions this season while Ball had just 12 tackles on the year.
Clemson also comes in largely healthy. On offense, tackle Jake Fruhmoregen is doubtful due to a shoulder injury that kept him out of the last five games. Receivers Trevion Thompson (wrist) and Adrien Dunn (ACL) have been out for extended weeks, but neither had a great impact on the offense. Thompson had 11 catches for 108 yards with one touchdown. Defensive end Richard Yeargin is questionable with a knee injury that has kept him out the last two games while cornerback Adrian Baker is doubtful with a knee injury. But again, neither player was a key contributor and just were more filling in depth.
