Florida St. vs. Virginia Pick

CBB Predictions: Florida State Seminoles vs. Virginia Cavaliers 12/31/16

Will No. 12 Virginia have a letdown performance today when it hosts No. 20 Florida State at 2PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Virginia is favored at home in this game, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -8.5 points against Florida State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 127.5 points. Virginia has won five of the last six in this series, going 4-2 against the spread in those six games.

Bet on Florida State vs. Virginia

Virginia moved to 11-1 on the season and 7-3 against the spread on Wednesday with a 61-53 win at Louisville to open ACC play. Since a 9-point loss to West Virginia, the Cavaliers have been a different team, holding their last four opponents to 53 points or less. On the season, Virginia is allowing just 47.7 points per game. Opposing teams are shooting just 34 percent from the field against them. Offensively, UVA is putting up 69.1 points per contest. No player on UVA is averaging in double figures, but eight players put up at least 6 points per game.

Florida State is on a 9-game winning streak following an 88-72 win over Wake Forest on Wednesday. The Seminoles are now 13-1 overall and 8-4 against the spread. However, FSU has failed to cover in two of its last three. FSU is led by its offense, which is putting up 88.1 points per game. The Seminoles are giving up 68.9 points per contest defensively. Dwayne Bacon is averaging 17.4 points per game to lead FSU while Jonathan Isaac is adding 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Florida State can score, but Virginia is about to throw a wrench into the FSU plans. The Seminoles are going to be challenged by this UVA defense and I don’t expect the Seminoles to react well to it. Virginia showed how good it can be when it faced Louisville on Wednesday and I expect the Cavs to build on that win today.
