Midshipmen down Mountaineers
Navy picked up a 59-48 victory at home nine days ago against Mt. St. Mary's to improve to 6-4 overall and 5-1 at home. The Midshipmen led 31-21 at halftime on their way to the triumph. John Carter Jr. paced Navy with 17 points on 4-of-10 shooting including 3-of-8 from 3-point distance plud 6-of-6 at the free throw line. He also registered seven rebounds and two steals. Cam Davis had 15 points, four assists and two boards. Greg Summers added 11 points, four caroms and three assists.
Cavaliers upset by Gamecocks
Virginia fell 70-59 at home last Sunday versus South Carolina to drop to 9-2 overall and 6-1 at home. The Cavaliers trailed 33-24 at halftime and were unable to recover. Mamadi Diakite was the lone Virginia player in double figures for scoring as he finished with 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting plus 9-of-11 at the charity stripe. He also tallied five rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots. Kihei Clark added nine points, seven assists and five boards.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Midshipmen are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games. Navy is 2-5 ATS in its last seven Sunday games.
The Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games. Virginia is 5-1 ATS in its last six games following a straight up loss.
It's not every day you see a total set this low, but these are literally the two slowest-paced teams in the nation with only Virginia playing at more of a snail's pace than Navy. The Cavaliers have also struggled majorly on the offensive end while boasting the nation's top defense. Coupled with the Midshipmen's offensive struggles and you have a recipe for watching paint dry. Anyway, the number is still a pretty darn good play even with it being such a low total. I'm going to side with Navy here as the Cavaliers have a hard enough time scoring and doing it against a team that plays at such a slow pace might lull them into a sense of comfort. While the Midshipmen haven't played a very tough schedule, they've been reasonably competitive and could see the same happening here.
